Chinese New Year at Unicorn Cove

Chinese New Year is just around the corner, and Unicorn Cove is gearing up for our annual celebration! We are cleaning the house days before to clear out negativity, so that this year’s Dragon can usher in tons of prosperity!

This year, we were lucky to have bought a “Tray of Togetherness” before they all sold out. Our tray has 8 different dried candied fruits, all of which are a symbol of prosperity to the Chinese. The tray includes: water chestnuts, coconut, lotus seeds, ginger, lotus root, carrot, winter melon, and kumquats.

For our celebration, we will be enjoying Chinese movies, and feasting on home made food. Our menu will include: pork in black bean sauce, mapo tofu, pan-fried noodles, roast duck, and Szechuan beef. We will have our usual platters of steam buns and jiao zi (dumplings), tea-soked eggs and noodles.

As the year of the Dragon approaches, we at Unicorn Cove would like to say to you all : Gung Hei Faat Choi! May this year be full of prosperity and wonderful opportunities!
